Okay okay... I am late with this festive little treat. But you may well have seen me post it last month on Instagram and tried it already.
At least this recipe will be sat here ready and waiting for next December. Nothing like being prepared. Sort of the same as my crazy mother and sister doing all their Christmas shopping in the January sales... I am not one of those people.
I picked up the idea for this smoothie from Ashley at Blissful Basil. Her website is gorgeous (go take a look) and I love her honest 'About Me' page explaining how she got into food blogging alongside her full time job, which I can really relate to doing the same thing. Combined with spotting jumbo cranberries on sale at my local veg shop I thought I'd give this one a go.
You'll have seen last week I was also using cranberries in a dish with brussels sprouts, so this is another way to use these low sugar fruits. Just don't try snacking on them. Or maybe do and tell me what you think. I just really didn't enjoy them...
I adapted Ashley's recipe by removing the mango she suggests to include. Even though cranberries a pretty sharp, if you use a really ripe squidgy pear I found this smoothie just sweet enough for me. See what you think.
PREP TIME: 5 minutes
COOK TIME: 0 minutes
- 50g fresh cranberries
- 150ml almond milk
- 1 ripe pear, cored
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
1. Place all ingredients in a nutribullet or food processor and blitz until smooth. Serve over ice.
