My lovely friend Caroline from Suppers in Season made some homemade cherry bakewells the other week and it totally inspired me. Cherry and almond is such an immense combination and like Caroline, who hasn't got memories of Mr Kiplings tasty bakewells?!
Rather than do some baking with the cherries I decided to channel those flavours into a smoothie. Using the natural sweetness from the cherries and making a nice thick glassful thanks to a good handful of oats, this smoothie is a total winner. Channel your inner Mr Kipling and whiz this one up for breakfast today!

- 10-15 cherries, de-stoned
- 30g oats
- 1 banana (ideally frozen, or just serve smoothie over ice)
- 200ml almond milk
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- Flaked almonds to serve
1. Blitz together in food processor or Nutribullet and serve!
